Real Wedding: Laurie & Bristol – Colourful Burlington Restaurant Wedding

From the moment we met the lovely Laurie and Bristol, we knew we were in for LOTS of fun. Wanting a wedding that truly reflected their personalities, after a thorough venue search, we landed right back to the spot where they were engaged – the Water Street Cooker in downtown Burlington.

Originally, an intimate hilltop ceremony at Mount Nemo Conservation area was planned, but in the days leading up to the wedding, the weather was not looking cooperative. With just hours to the ceremony, we made the tough call that the rain was not going to let up, and swiftly put Plan B into place.

Being a big believer in “everything happens for a reason”, I believe that fate may have had a different plan for them all along. So, on that rainy September day, in front of just 10 of their immediate family members, with the biggest smiles on their faces, Laurie & Bristol embraced Plan B and became the very first to say “I Do” on the front porch of the Water Street Cooker. It was perfectly imperfect, and so perfectly them, and they’re planning to renew their vows next year on that hilltop instead.

Later that evening, 120 of their friends and family joined them upstairs in the restaurant overlooking the the waters of Lake Ontario, for an amazing meal and live entertainment courtesy of The Dirty Pioneers.

Something that has always stuck with me is that your wedding design should be inspired by who you are authentically as a couple and that if you inserted another couple in your place, the wedding would no longer make sense. This sentiment couldn’t ring more true for Laurie & Bristol. From the bright and colourful hanging florals throughout the restaurant, to the boxes of crayons and kraft paper on each guest table, every last detail was quintessentially “them”.

Laurie & Bristol, you two are the reason we love what we do. A sincere thank you for completely trusting us to make your wedding day vision a reality.
